Phoebe Mortimer

Currently I'm working on approaches to sustainable schools and sustainable education. I'm enjoying collaborating on this with teaching colleagues in Oxford, the UK and across the world, alongside colleagues from other sectors.

As Sustainability Lead for the River Learning Trust I am responsible for devising a strategy for embedding sustainable practices across nine schools and supporting a network of school sustainability leads to implement it.

As an English Teacher and KS3 leader I have expertise in integrating sustainability into the secondary school English curriculum as well as a particular interest in framing and communication around the climate and nature crisis. I deliver CPD sessions to existing and trainee teachers on teaching in the context of the climate and nature crisis and have contributed to the English resources for the UCL Centre for Climate Change Education in collaboration with Megan Murray-Pepper and Kim Polgreen at Oxford Earth Academy. I also support environmental teaching as a member of the Sustainability Advisory group at Oxford University's Education Deanery, where we help connect school teachers with environmental developments in their subject areas within academia.

Oxford Earth Academy also brings school students from across Oxfordshire together via OxSSN (Oxfordshire Schools Sustainability Network) to deepen and develop their environmental thinking.

Please do get in touch if you want to know more about what we do.
