Internships

Everyone at OEA is a volunteer, and we welcome others who want to come and work with us. From time to time we have work experience or unpaid summer interns (school students or undergraduates) who come and work with us for a short time and add a huge amount to the work we can do. These projects can be done over the summer holidays, and in a completely flexible way.

We have regular meet ups with each intern at local cafes, and give them opportunities to get involved with events and meetings we are running or attending so that they can see how things work.

Currently, Grace is working with OEA in a general internship role, assisting with the administration of the organisation, events and research.

In August 2026, Sarita assisted on a paper looking at the overlaps amongst alternative education pedagogies including peace, nature and character education and workplace skills. She also worked on a project facilitating a consultation process across professionals and organisations for the new GCSE in natural history.

In 2025, we had three interns who each took on a particular task: Maria, Tiye and Philippa. Each of them did a fantastic project which made a valuable contribution to our work.
