The OEA team are passionate about work experience as an opportunity to support groups of teenagers in finding the ideas, skills and opportunities for a future “green” career in a “greening economy”.

We define “Green Careers” broadly:

  1. A role in which you are directly working on environmental improvements e.g. regenerative farming; OR

  2. One in which you have an opportunity to improve the environmental performance of your organisation e.g. environmental supply chain management in a retailer; OR

  3. Where whole organisation is helping to move us to a sustainable future e.g. environmental lawyer or solar energy company.

While we offer as much as we can (around 24 places a year) the demand within Oxfordshire is much higher. So we are working with the Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Partnership, Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership and Oxfordshire Nature Recovery Partnership People and Nature subgroup, to encourage more employers to take on students for work experience in the “greening” economy.

We are offering help to employers to design work experience within their organisations, and training on how to work with teenagers, particularly in ways that helps them develop those all important core skills of confidence, listening, and initiative.

Our next open event is on 1st December. Contact us for more details.
