Fieldwork support at Wytham Woods
We can offer support to schools for Geography and Biology fieldwork - with Kim or another outdoor educator. This could be at your own school, or another site to which the school has access. We have particular expertise in running fieldwork days at Wytham Woods just outside Oxford - the research Woodlands of the University of Oxford. If you want to visit Wytham, check with us for availability, and then contact the Woods team on wytham.woods@admin.ox.ac.uk. The University is currently not charging state schools for visits.
History of our work with Wytham Woods
Kim started bringing teenagers to Wytham Woods for nature education in 2017 as part of the Youth Summer School.
In 2019 Nigel Fisher, the Conservator at Wytham Woods, invited Kim to run more education activities at Wytham. Our first project was a very successful weekend for a group of teens from Westminster Academy in London.
In 2020, Kim became the Youth Educator in Residence at Wytham Woods, and has since gone on to develop a suite of education offerings for the Woods.
In 2022 Kim’s work won Wytham Woods runner up in the Vice Chancellors’ Sustainability Awards.
In early 2023, Wytham Woods collaborated with Head of Sixth Form from The Cherwell School, who had brought groups of students to Wytham Woods on several occasions, to nominate Kim for a High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Award for her work at Wytham Woods.
