Marcus Simmons

Marcus Simmons has lived and been involved in Oxfordshire since the late 1970s, and has maintained a lifelong interest and love of landscapes and nature.

He has a varied work background, including roles in research and development, project management, education, youth work and outdoor activities coaching, all of which provide valuable skills and experience for his current role. Most relevant of all, for the past 4 years he has been intensively involved in helping parish and community groups start and progress in Nature Recovery planning, running the Oxfordshire Nature Project, though which he has supported many dozens of Oxfordshire parishes, helping them start and progress in effective Nature Recovery action, connecting them to relevant sources of expertise and especially by providing user-friendly mapping tools showing the locations of key nature and landscape features in their own area, facilitating sensible prioritisation and planning of nature conservation and restoration activities etc. He also co-facilitates the ‘Trees Collaborate Group’, a peer learning and mentoring group run by CAG Oxfordshire.
